Volkmann GmbH is proud to be able to share that on August 6th we welcomed distinguished visitors to our Soest manufacturing headquarters. Mr Karl-Josef Laumann, the minister for Labour, Health and Social Affairs for the State of North-Rhine Westphalia along with Mr Andreas Knappstein and Jörg Nolte the President and Managing Director of the IHK Arnsberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, came to witness the highly regarded apprenticeship style of vocational training offered by the company. The visit coincided with the beginning of the 2025/26 training year for a total of 14 trainees at various stages of their training. The trainees, ranging in age from 15 to 23 years old, embark on a 3 or 3.5 year apprenticeship in such fields as skilled mechatronic, machinist, construction mechanic, or warehouse/stores specialist. The training program covers both practical vocational skills as well as academic studies at local professional schools / colleges.
Commenting on the visit, an impressed Mr. Laumann stated, “Great workshop, if I were 50 years younger, I would start working here too.” This endorsement was particularly well received by Volkmann who are a family owned precision engineering company specializing in the Vacuum transfer and handling of bulk materials used throughout the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and aerospace industries. Mr Volkmann stated that for the company this intensive vocational programme at the beginning of an employee’s career is an investment in quality assurance utilizing the comprehensive expertise of our existing employees who combine with Industrial guidelines to provide the foundations of the training program. Furthermore, these training opportunities reflect Volkmann’s social commitment to the local community.
